We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join a HR Services function in East Riding of Yorkshire. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to act as the principal payroll subject matter expert and to lead the implementation of a new SAP payroll system within a complex organisation. Reporting into the HR Services and Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of payroll services, ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal role in shaping payroll operations during a period of transformation.
- Acting as the principal subject matter expert for payroll, providing authoritative guidance across the organisation
- Leading the end-to-end implementation of a new SAP payroll system, working closely with internal and external stakeholders
- Managing and developing a small payroll team, building capability and driving high performance
- Overseeing payroll escalations, resolving complex exceptions and ensuring issues are addressed efficiently and compliantly
- Ensuring payroll processes meet all statutory, regulatory and internal governance requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and service delivery
- Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or senior payroll role
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice
- Hands-on experience of SAP payroll and involvement in system implementations or major upgrades
- Experience of leading, coaching and developing payroll teams
- The confidence to manage escalations and provide expert advice to senior stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills
